Surprisingly, other than the sponsor, Rep. Reinhart, the only two proponents were Linda Stoll (MAP and Missoula Co.) and Harold Blattey (MACO). Dan McGee spoke as an opponent. Sen. Esp, chair of the comm., was absent due to other commitments so no executive action was taken (and there's no indication of if/when they might take exec. action). Latest word is both houses may take Sat. off which would extend the 90th day until next Tues. They're trying to reach agreement on funding the next biennium along with appropriaton of the federal stimulus funds so they don't have to come back for a 'special session'. The longer things drag on the better I feel about HJ42 dying in committee.

The Senate Local Government Comm. met a few minutes ago. They had three resolutions in committee that they heard last week including HJ42. They only took executive action on one of them and no motion was offered on HJ42or the other one so it appears HJ42 is dead. Word is that the committee will not meet again as the session is set to wrap up tomorrow.

Rick: Thanks for all your hard work on HJ42. Senator Tutvedt e-mailed me Friday and said they were going to let in die in Committee. I believe your efforts were instumental in stopping this bill.

Thanks again,

Jeff Larsen
